but if I lived next to that traveler’s site I’d want them gone. I have nothing against their core values of marriage and and community, but I completely disagree with the way they shut themselves of to the world. The way they live means they for the most part absolutely resist social integration and contribution towards public funds via tax evasion and cordoning themselves off. Often their culture is vulgar, classless and objectifying to women (that’s coming from someone who for the most part dislikes feminist views). The crux of the matter is, however, that to avoid a well-to-do village being consumed by caravans and plastic deck chairs, they sort of have to go. They do not have planning permission and they flouted the law. The villagers have said it makes them uneasy. They need to go, regardless of how ‘inhumane’ it might be.
